ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
BIOGRAPHY
"I'm Gonna Rock U"! exclaims the new single from Alexander Technique that features Princess Superstar, a name that has become synonymous with his meteoric rise to DJ fame. "Rock U" is what Alex is gonna do to YOU! Under the name "DJs Are Not Rockstars," Alexander was one of the pioneer DJs that mixed rock with rap, electro, techno and house to create a funked up collage of everything people want to hear on the dancefloor. In 2009, that format is as familiar as a worn-out Versace shoe, but when Alexander concieved the idea of DJs mashing genres together in one set, it was revolutionary. Now Alexander has moved on to the next phase of his legendary career producing hit records with the likes of Jacques Lu Cont and Junior Sanchez, remixing MGMT and Sharam Jey feat. Los Valentinos under the psudeonym Blogula with Larry Tee. Having played the biggest festivals from Coachella to Glastonbury, this is a DJ talent that is guaranteed to turn crowds upside-down and shake the coins from their pockets!
Early on Alexander had a love for electronic music and owned a record store in New Jersey. He met Princess Superstar, helped her learn her craft as a DJ, and the two embarked on a tour across the globe that lasted for 4 years while she honed her album material. They played every major club around the globe, performed on Top Of the Pops, and appeared on the biggest festivals like Bugged Out, Global Gathering, Central Park Summer Stage, Coachella, Exit Festival, Creamfields, Summercase and Primavera. DJs Are Not Rockstars played alongside Bjork, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, New Order, Chemical Brothers, Rufus Wainwright, Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Tiga, and Soulwax as they became festival headliners. In 2007 Alexander decided it was time to make a change and produce, remix and DJ by himself, going back to the underground scene that inspired him to start DJing. This led to the formation of his new label DJs Are Not Rockstars, hyped in FADER Magazine with releases featuring the talents of Australian superstar Sia, Princess Superstar, Junior Sanchez, Felix Da Housecat, Chewy Chocolate Cookies, edits by JFK from MSTRKRFT, and a whole family of underground stars.
2009 has kicked into full speed as he puts together his debut album, releases his first single on a major indie dance label (to be announced) and as he hits new territories never played during the heights of his DJs Are Not Rockstars era. In short, Alexander is a talent whose time has finally come. Now is the first chance to hear Alexander bring his new sounds to a city near you.
It is his true love and dedication to music that has earned him respect worldwide as one of the most innovative DJ/producer/remixer of today.
