Rising Dutch star Dem Slackers developed his love for music at a young age. At the age of 7 he picked up his first guitar and now at 21 years old the Dutch DJ/producer has many titles to his name. His attitude towards music can be described as "Slack More", he explains, "It used to be my nickname in school, because I was lazy and used to slack a lot. Now it just means that I enjoy life and have found the balance between work hard, play hard.”
Producing was his first love, however the idea of rocking the crowd and blasting the speakers excited him and from this Dem Slackers was born. Releasing music on established labels such as Ultra, EMI Records and Musical Freedom has given him a strong presence on the playlists of Tiësto, Dada Life, Laidback Luke, Steve Aoki, and many more.
Dem Slackers pushes the boundaries not only with his original productions but also with his remixes. With a remix for Miike Snow's "Pretender" that has whirled up a storm with injections of his signature electro house sounds. Along with many other great remixes, The Bloody Beatroots' "Rock Steady" got the Slackers treatment, with him not one to shy away from his edgier sound, this did some real damage on the dance floors.
2011 was the start of his international break-through, with a personal invite from Tiësto to DJ alongside him in the worlds biggest club, Privilege, Ibiza. This year also brought him his first official UK and Australian tours, as well as DJ sets all over Europe.
His home country also got to know Dem Slackers and the crazy energy he conveys; with playing Lowlands, the biggest pop festival in the Netherlands as well as many other Dutch festivals.
Global Grind EP hit the digital stores in 2011 with strong support from some of the worlds biggest DJs. Tiësto described it as "really cool!! I especially like Global Grind!". 2012 began with his second Australian tour and his first release of the year, Schlingel, released on Tuff em up. Dada Life got their hands on this track and included it in their exclusive compilation for Musical Freedom. With one successful EP under Dem Slackers belt for 2012, the young Dutch man was snatched up by EMI for his second release of the year. The anticipated Gold EP, released early October 2012, has received support from industry heavy weights including, Armin van Buuren, Kaskade and Eddie Halliwell.
So what more can the future bring for our Slacker? With more music and tour dates on their way, Dem Slackers has his eye on international stardom. 2013 will bring his first U.S tour and of course he will bring his high dose of energy over the Atlantic.
